by Philip H. Hoffman
Republished from the original 1903 edition - (655Kb, 19pp)
Gen. Washington's headquarters from January 5 until the
7th of May 1777 at Morristown, New Jersey. The author purchased the historic
building in 1863 and spent the next forty years collecting artifiacts, memorabilia,
documents, and information relating to the old Arnold Tavern. This 19-page
work was published in 1903, several years after the old tavern was moved
out of town to make way for a more "modern" office building. This
colorful and well-crafted PDF edition is neatly illustrated, including Gen.
Robert Erskine's 1777 map of Morristown (No. 105) and the author's own definitive
identification of every item specified thereon. (655Kb, 19pp)
